Imagine you have only one memory module for all (compatible) Roland devices. Nearly unlimited memory in a tasty, tasty design. Wouldn't that be nice?
Then you will love our MC-256! The MC-256 is a specially developed memory module and is designed as a drop-in replacement product for the Roland M-16C and M-64C memory cartridges. It has so much memory that you'll probably never get out of memory for the rest of your life. This cartridge offers you an amazing 256 banks. That's 256 of the conventional M-64C cartridges in one! It's never been done before!
The highlight: You can format each bank individually for a different device. So if you're an avowed Roland fan and have several devices at once, you can format the first 20 banks for the TR-909 and the next 20 banks for the JX-8P, for example. The module has its own bank management, you can change the banks on-the-fly at the module. A two-digit 7-segment display in the module shows you which bank is currently selected.
Right from the start, we have been using the latest technology in our development. We use MRAM (Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory)! This is non-volatile by nature. This means that no memory battery is necessary. MRAM offers many advantages over other non-volatile memory types, including above-average data retention of >20 years and an infinite number of write cycles. So you buy a memory module for good!
You should know that before you buy:
Especially with the keyboards (JX-8P and JX-10) Roland installed the card slots the wrong way around. We have adapted our cartridge MC-256 so that the display points to the front! Otherwise you would have had to rotate your card slot or the cartridge would be unusable. You certainly wouldn't have liked that.
If you own a rack-mounted device (MKS) or an alpha Juno 2, please note that the display will face down. The cartridge still works technically without any limitations!
For all other devices, such as the 909 or 707, you can safely use the cartridge. There are no restrictions here.
